University of Virginia -- SMART Technologies Inc. announces that researchers at the University of Virginia have concluded that SMART Board™interactive whiteboards, when used with appropriate pedagogy and digital resources, can lead to improved student learning outcomes and quality of life for teachers. The three-year study, now entering its third year, examines how to best prepare teachers to effectively incorporate technology into their daily teaching in a way that fosters greater student understanding. SMART Leads Interactive Whiteboard Segment
SMART Technologies Inc. announces its global installed base of 650,000 SMART Board interactive whiteboards. A recently released report from Decision Tree Consulting (DTC), an industry-leading UK research company that has been documenting interactive whiteboard sales for seven years, states that the global installed base for all manufacturers is estimated to be 1,000,000 units as at December 31, 2006. Senteo Interactive Response System
The Senteo interactive response system is now shipping. The system includes a remote control device for each student in a classroom and a receiver that allows teachers to send information to each device and receive student responses. For more information, click here.
SMART Board 600i Interactive Whiteboard System with New Features
The SMART Board 600i interactive whiteboard system now offers even more flexibility, thanks to an optional firmware upgrade. This upgrade, available to SMART customers at no charge, enables control of the existing RS232 port in the system’s built-in projector. For more information, click here.
Gallery Publisher
Gallery Publisher software will be available in August for Windows® operating systems. Gallery Publisher software enables publishers and educators to optimize their multimedia content for Notebook collaborative learning software and then import it into the Gallery, Notebook software’s searchable repository of thousands of digital images and multimedia resources. SMART Board Software 9.7 Offers Teachers More
SMART Board software 9.7, offering teachers more digital resources and a number of user-friendly new features, is now available to download for Windows®, Mac OS and Linux® operating systems. Developed in consultation with teachers, the newest version of SMART Board software offers new learning objects and Adobe® Flash® content in the Gallery, dual page display, new print options and vertical text flow for Asian languages. Height-Adjustable Mount for 600i System Available
The new height-adjustable wall mount for the SMART Board 600i interactive whiteboard system is now available. Using the smooth-sliding counterweight mechanism, teachers can easily raise or lower the 600i system to any desired height within a 20-inch (50 cm) range. For more information, click here.
Bridgit Conferencing Software Improves Voice Over IP and Chat
Bridgit conferencing software 3.2 for Microsoft® Windows and Mac OS operating systems is now available. The latest version adds improved Voice over IP (VoIP) to Web conferencing applications, chat features, support for more users and enhanced support for the Mac operating system. SMART Product Operations Moving to New World Class Facility
SMART Technologies Inc. is consolidating its product operations into a new 260,000 square foot facility in Kanata, Ontario, Canada to meet the growing global demand for its education, training and collaboration products.
