About the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board
The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board was established in 2004 with the passage of Act 71 of 2004, also known as the Race Horse Development and Gaming Act. Pennsylvania’s first new state agency in nearly 40 years was tasked to oversee the creation of a slots casino industry designed to produce tremendous benefits for its citizens. Specifically, legalized gaming in the Commonwealth has already created thousands of new living wage jobs, revenues to lower property taxes for all homeowners, and a reinvigoration of our horse racing industry.
